Finding the time to exercise your body

Research indicates exercise is the best medicine your
doctor can prescribe. Here’s how to make the time to
exercise!
Increasingly, research indicates exercise is the best
medicine your doctor can prescribe. It reduces the risk of
heart disease and prevents or helps control high blood
pressure and diabetes. Exercise helps lower cholesterol and
keep weight down. It increases bone density and muscle
strength to slow deterioration caused by arthritis and
osteoporosis. It can reduce your risk of developing certain
types of cancer. It’s even been proven to relieve depression
and anxiety.
The trouble is, most of us find it tough to put aside time
to exercise on a regular basis. Health experts recommend a
minimum of three 30-minute vigorous workouts weekly or 30
minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. The good
news is those 30 minutes can be split up. While 20 minutes
of aerobic activity is ideal; two 10-minute activities will
deliver almost as much benefit. So if you can’t set a block
of time aside, here’s how to make the most of time you
didn’t know you had!

Try these tips:
• Work or live in a high rise? Get off the elevator 2 or
3 floors (or more) before yours and take the stairs.
• Get off the bus 2 or 3 stops before yours and walk
(briskly) the rest of the way.
• Park in the furthest corner of the lot.
• Use your coffee break or lunch hour to go for a brisk
walk.
• Do some stretching exercises while you watch TV.
• Play with your kids – a game of tag, a nature hike, a
bike ride or a swim is a fun way to exercise.
• Do your own chores. Mowing the lawn, raking leaves,
cleaning the house or washing the car are all good exercise.
• Watching something on the stove? Pick up a couple of
heavy cans and squeeze in some arm lifts or do a few
stretches.
• Remember that many activities you enjoy – walking,
biking,. dancing, a pick-up basketball game – are good ways
to get aerobic exercise.
The best and most efficient way to stay in shape is
combining regular exercise with a nutritional cleansing
program twice a year.

Your weight has been creeping up for years. How does it
happen?
No matter what kind of weight loss system/or program they
offer, the experts all agree:

The reason for weight gain is really quite simple: when the
number of calories eaten is greater than the number of
calories used by the body, the surplus is stored as body
fat. Knowing that is an important start, and knowing the
other factors that may play a part in your weight-loss
picture is the next step.
1. Diet. Regularly consuming too many calories,
especially from high-fat foods and calorie-laden drinks.
2. Physical inactivity. Inactive people are more likely
to carry excess body fat.
3. Genetics. Your risk of obesity increases if one or
both of your parents is obese.
4. Age. As we age we lose muscle to fat and our
metabolism declines, reducing calorie needs.
5. Gender. Men expend more calories than women, making
weight control a tougher challenge for women.
6. Psychological factors. Some people overeat to cope
with emotional problems.
7. Pregnancy. A woman’s weight can rise 4 to 6 pounds
after each pregnancy.
8. Medications. Some corticosteroids and
antidepressants can result in weight gain.
9. Illness. Any medical condition that leads to
decreased activity can result in weight gain.
10. Quitting smoking. Smokers can gain up to 8
pounds when quitting.

Other than the first 5 factors, all the others are under your Control!

I’m always of the belief that we should take any and all
occasions to celebrate life; unfortunately, some of us are
partying a little bit too hard when it comes to the eating
and drinking part of having a great time. The great news is
party season doesn’t have to put a damper on your diet even
when you have to navigate all those drinks and the dreaded
buffet table laden with goodies.
I’m always telling patients that their number one defence
against overeating at parties is to make sure to never go
too hungry.; most people starve the whole day only to end
up overeating at the end of the day, just because it’s a
party! Have a great breakfast that morning and remember to
have protein with your breakfast and lunch because you will
feel fuller longer; at your usual dinner time, have a
nutritious protein shake which provides all nutrients your
body needs, therefore it won’t crave any other later on.
This way you’re not walking into buffet land like someone
who has been on starvation island. That cheesy, drippy
mushroom puff doesn’t look as good when your stomach isn’t
rumbling.
Next, remember that if you graze down the buffet line
everything still counts. If eating standing up or in little
bites didn’t count then all of us would throw out our
kitchen tables and eat bite sized cupcakes standing up. Of
course, what you choose to eat makes a big difference.
Let me help you make some great choices.
Don’t Be a Dip About Dip. If it is a choice between hummus
and spinach-artichoke dip, choose heart-healthy, high-fibber
hummus rather than the latter which is loaded down with
cheese and mayo. Dipping with crudités rather than crackers
is a nice way to up your veggie quotient as well, and it
will also help fill you up.
Yes, I’m Calling You Shrimp. The shrimp cocktail gets high
marks, as does the smoked salmon. Instead of the high sugar
cocktail sauce try dipping into some spicy salsa or even
going without the dip. If there is some guacamole on hand,
try a bit as a nice dip or even mix it with a tiny bit of
salsa for some zip.
No Piggy. Another no-no is your standard party fare of
pigs-in-a-blanket. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like
to eat anything that has the word pigs in it. You can try a
bacon wrapped scallop because of the relatively small amount
of bacon provides loads of flavour, while the scallop is a
high quality protein source that also contains omega three
fats.
Aunt Margret’s Famous Meatballs. No offense to your
relatives, but those meatballs are probably loaded with
bread and eggs. Eat them in small doses. Tell Aunt Jenny
they’re delicious and you’ve had five of them already. It’s
a small white lie that won’t get you in trouble unless she’s
keeping count.
Mini Quiche. There is nothing really mini about this food
and I’d say to skip it. Plus, who even knows what the heck
is in these tiny pies? My rule is if I can’t figure out
what’s in it then I’m not eating it.
Not So Nuts. Go nuts for a quick grab food because nuts
have protein, fibber and good fats. However, you can’t graze
on nuts all night long because too much of a good thing
is…too much. Try just eating 10 nuts and don’t lose count
by standing by the nuts and turbo loading them into your
mouth as you talk. Those 10 nuts will fill you up and are a
nice tasty treat.
Step Away. It’s always helpful to step away from the buffet
table. Is there a nice patio area where you can go outside
and talk? Can you go into the den and find some old friends?
Consciously make a decision that you’ve eaten enough and
amuse yourself by talking, dancing, catching up or even
playing DJ. You’re not there to just eat, but to greet old
friends and family…
No matter how much caution I exercise during these parties,
I still feel the need to do a quick detox next day: a
30min. sauna, a water+Isagenix juice fast for 1/2 a day, a
bit extra exercise, etc…
For now, exercise a bit of caution….but Enjoy the
Holidays! they only come once a year…
Once the holidays are over, consider reaching your goals

The issue of weight loss and the quest for that perfect
figure is in the forefront of many women’s minds. The look
of beauty is portrayed in television ads and in magazine
print by overly slim anaemic looking models. This image
gives women of all ages a false view of beauty and what it
means to look good and be healthy. This body image has given
many individuals an unrealistic and unhealthy goal; one that
has left many to fail in their diet plans. Obesity has
become an epidemic in North America with nearly a third of
adult men and more than a third of adult women being
considered obese today.
A contributing factor to this growing trend may be the
mistrust of the weight loss industry by consumers. In the
last 5 years the multibillion dollar weight loss industry
has been a little flat. Contributing factors has been a
little flat. Contributing factors may include fad diets, fad
trends, fraudulent weight loss products with phony before
and after photos, false and misleading diet claims; all of
which have left many consumers confused… until now.
Lately, more and more scientific research studies have been
linking environmental toxins to the increase in adipose
tissue in one’s body; the Natrajan explains it very well in
this video and offers a solution everyone should consider
doing twice a year: in the spring/summer and fall.
Since the Holiday season has already started, the best
thing to do is exercise moderation when it comes to food,
and keep up with as much activity as you can; preparing for
the New Years’ is also a good idea: take a look at
Dr.Anca’s upcoming E-courses to help you get in shape in the
New Year.
Not only does obesity increase the risk of developing
cardiovascular disease (CVD), and not only is it possibly
linked to psychological issues such as anxiety and low
self-esteem, it now appears that it also plays a role in
exhaustion.
In an analysis of almost 14,000 subjects, U.K. and U.S.
researchers found that body-mass index (BMI, a relative
measure of body fat) was highest among those with the
highest levels of Vital Exhaustion (VE). VE is a
psychological state characterized by excessive fatigue along
with feelings of irritability and demoralization.
In their study, published in the journal Obesity, the
authors write that understanding the relationship between
obesity and VE (e.g., whether one may lead to the other,
whether they may occur together) may help improve the
success of treatment of each – any may reduce people’s
risk of developing CVD and/or suffering further
complications of CVD.
Did you know that:
About 79% of women know what they weighed in high school,
but just 32% know their current cholesterol levels.

Since the beginning of pharmaceuticals, people have been
searching for wonder drugs and miracle cures. As much
benefit as modern pharmaceuticals have brought us, it is
important not to lose sight of what Mother Nature has
provided for us all along, and therefore is more in
accordance with our human physiology.
One such natural “miracle wonder drug” is apple cider
vinegar, bringing relief for a variety of ailments like
mucus discharges, nose bleeds, nail problems, menstruation
dysbalances, shingles, sore throat, varicose veins, etc…
and diabetes and obesity.
With so many studies done on it, apple cider vinegar is
proving to be one of the greatest aids to health known to
science; it’s a 100% natural substance produced by
powerful natural enzymes from healthy organic apples, free
of any chemicals.
Perhaps one of the most useful applications in this society
is for this society’s biggest problem right now, obesity.
Vinegar has been used for thousands of years for weight
loss. In 2005, another study found that those who ate a
piece of bread along with small amounts of vinegar felt
fuller and more satisfied than those who just ate the bread.
More and more people are trying to lose weight nowadays.
Millions of dollars are spent yearly on diet products and
programs; when in fact we should be investigating the cause
of overweight and obesity.
Regardless of sex, obesity is the result of excessive
alcohol intake, overeating, consumption of certain drugs,
lack of activity or regular exercise, lack of fresh air,
etc.; all of these triggers cause insufficient oxidation of
the blood. The easiest, most natural solution for restoring
the blood’s vitality and oxygenation is apple cider
vinegar.
As obesity is a multi-factorial condition depending on age,
gender, genetics, environmental factors, physical activity,
psychological factors, illness, medication, etc., it might
not be “cured” with apple cider vinegar, but it can be
definitely be helped.
Two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water on
rising in the morning can help you shed off some extra
pounds; for best results, this should be taken before each
meal and during the day over a period of time. Of course, a
calorie-balanced diet is always advisable when following a
weight loss program.
For best results, combine the apple cider vinegar program
with a nutritional cleansing program supplying all necessary
nutrients for natural, healthy weight loss.
